The boys lacrosse team got off to a fairly slow start, losing to T.C. Williams 15-6 on March 13, and Herndon 9-5 on March 19. They then hosted a Spring Break tournament in which they played Annandale, South Lakes, and Trinity. Falls Church rallied behind their goalie, Reno Sholeh (11), who had 16 saves, and managed to pull out a win 11-10. They then played South Lakes, who beat them 13-1. They then lost a close one to Trinity, 8-7, and had a last second shot that was saved by Trinity’s goalie. They then moved on to play West Potomac on April 5 and Battlefield on April 7, both of which were losses, 13-1 and 13-4, respectively. With the exception of a rescheduled West Springfield game, that ended the out of conference portion of their schedule.
The in-conference games started with Edison, who beat the Jags 15-5 on April 11. Next up came an April 13 clash with the Wakefield Warriors. After being down 3-0, the Jaguars rallied and went on an 18-1 run to finish the game 18-4, and even out their conference record at one win and one loss.
Next up was Thomas Jefferson on April 19, a game which really came down to the wire. It was tied 9-9 at the end of regulation. The defense made a couple of important stops during overtime and transitioned the ball into the offensive end. The Jags won the game with a goal from Luke McLean (12). But the time for celebration was short, as they played Marshall just four days later.
Things looked bleak against the Statesmen as the Jaguars were down 8-2 late in the third quarter, but they managed to score five straight to cut the deficit down to one. But sadly, they had another last second shot that was saved by the Marshall goalie, resulting in an 8-7 loss.
However only three days later, on April 26, they had their senior night against J.E.B. Stuart. Before the game, they honored their eight seniors, Nick Nguyen (12), Jason Darling (12), Patrick Gutual (12), Luke McLean (12), Armando Marquez (12), Carson Hopkins (12), Matthew Nguyen-Tran (12), and Jose Meneses (12), who all helped power the team to a 10-3 victory.
Next up for the Jags was West Springfield, an out of conference opponent. The game had been rescheduled from earlier in the season due to snow. The Jags came out and gave their all, but it wasn’t enough, and they lost 15-4 on May 2.
The team’s last game of the regular season was against an in-conference opponent in Lee High School. They won that game with a score of 17-0 on May 4 to finish the season with an in-conference record of 4-2 and locked up third place in their conference.
