The Jagwire’s club of the month is the Bike Club. This club is sponsored by Spanish and German Teacher Mr. Zlatnik. Mr. Zlatnik is big fan of bikes and is an active biker himself. Mr. Zlatnik says, “Bikes are a great way to get around and are a lot of fun. I bike to school every day.” The bike club is a result of a partnership between the school club and a bike shop called Arlington Phoenix Bikes. Formally, Fairfax County forbids allowing bike riding as a club or school activity, but Zlatnik gained permission to organize local rides as a volunteer with Phoenix Bikes. They have ridden at some local forest trails, to Reston and once as far as Herndon.

It is that point in the year that students and teachers hate most. The beginning of fourth quarter. Students are ready for summer and teachers are ready for students to pay attention in class. Seniors meanwhile, are concerned with their future and where they’ll be headed after graduation. “Senioritis” for many, is hitting hard and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. However, while planning for the future may seem more important than studying for your history test, you may want to reconsider.

Many different countries are included in the populous continent of Asia, and there are a number of different cultures represented. Asia is one of the most densely populated areas in the world and covers about thirty percent of Earth’s total land area and sixty percent of its population; a place this large is thriving with unique culture and ways of life. To get an inside scoop of what the Asian Student Association is like, ASA officer Lena Huynh (12) gave us some information about this unique group.
